We had the most wonderful stay at Vimarn Samut. We arrived for the full moon dance party. The service was fantastic, food great, the most peaceful and beautiful location you could imagine. The Party is about fifteen minutes away along the beach or an eay 50 baht ride. We will definitely be back for more friendly and efficient service....highly recommended...Andrew & Jen

The only advise I want to offer to prospective travelers is that at least for me, it is not a 10-minute walk from the beach where the party takes place. There is a section of uphill climb on the way back to the hotel. One time even during the day I spent about 25 minutes for the trip with a map in hand. In the night or after the party, I think you would have to deal with insufficient lighting and unpredictable traffic. Unless you think you will be sober and energetic enough after the party, spend some money to get a taxi. I paid 200 THB to share a taxi with others at 4 a.m., when the party was still going on. On regular time the same trip cost me only 50 THB.

I agree with most of the guests on the positive comments. I really want to say thanks to the hostess, Chutarat, for her assistance and hospitality. I would definity consider this hotel in my next trip to Koh Phangan.

This was a lovely place to stay. It s a 15 minute walk/2 minute drive from the main town in Haad Rin, which is preferable to being in town, if you don t want to be surrounded by full moon partying tourists! The open eating/lounging area has a gorgeous view on the beach and you feel an immediate sense of relaxation when you sit down. The manager (owner?) is there every day ( Mu sp?), she speaks fluent English and she is lovely - really looks after you and makes you feel at home. She can arrange a free car to the town (you have to get a taxi back) or she ll get you a reliable taxi to other places on the island. All rooms have an ocean view and, when you walk out of your room, you have a view of the gorgeous tree-lined mountain across the road. The rooms are nice, clean, though no telephone or tv. However there are a good collection of DVDs and LOVELY RELAXING CDS (played softly in the evening) in the open lounge area. There are roosters and hens wandering around under trees(a nice touch - they don t bother you). I m sure they produce the eggs for your pad thai dish! I would really recommend it for your full moon party stay, but more specifically for people who are NOT crazy partiers who want a relaxing island stay, but also want access to the town. The prices outside of the party time are almost half. The beach is too shallow for swimming, but other beaches are in walking distance (apparently, you can walk to the town along the beach, though a taxi is recommended for nighttime). Or they also have lilos for floating in the ocean. I HIGHLY recommend staying at Vimarn Samut.......... Luciano Savedra, USA - September'05

2005-08-19 until 2005-08-22 So friendly! The personnel were more than great. The room was clean with a good standard. If you visit Vimarn Samut Resort in late summer the beach are not the best (low water), but it’s only 10-15 minutes walk to Haad rin beach so why complain?.- Ninni Johansson, Sweden

My girlfriend Susan and I recently stayed in Vimarn Samut for three nights during the fullmoon party in July. We just wish to take the time to thank you for being so kind and welcoming to us. Of all the resorts we stayed in in Thailand we never felt more at home than in Vimarn Samut. This was due totally to the positive, friendly attitude of you and your staff. Thank you. We enjoyed our stay at Vimarn Samut. It was the perfect spot in Koh Phangan to enjoy the full moon party. The location was a ten minute walk to the party and far enough away to get a good nights sleep after the party. Boo and her staff were so friendly. The Thai food in the restuarant is probably the best on the island. I spent most of the day relaxing in the hammock looking out into the sea. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the future. Francis, March '05

I cannot recommend this resort highly enough. We initially booked for 3 nights and ended up staying for 6 it was so good! The staff are wonderful - so friendly and accomodating, we were made to really feel welcome. In a beautiful location on the beach. Rooms are clean and well kept, and the food amazing!! I m glad we had this nice low key resort to relax at because the full moon party was a big dissapointment. By no means was the full moon party a real rave. Eight or so different beach bars in a row blaring competing, preset,out of date crappy trance or hip hop out on to a crowded beach of unsophisticated people. No DJs or house music to be found anywhere and no real sense of togetherness. A decent all night party in a cool setting with bad music, but hardly an event worthy of world wide aclaim. Perhaps a good thing is now way past its prime. Back to the review: The staff was wonderful. Very helpful and friendly and cooked great western and Thai food. The grounds/garden area looks nice and fits in well with the beach. The restaurant/lounge area is also very cozy. The rooms are very basic but also very clean, spacious with good AC, and decently sealed up from bugs. This is the minimum level of comfort my typical girly American wife was happy with for more than a night. I would definitely stay here again. It is also more like a 15 minute walk to town where the full moon party is, but the staff is happy to give rides there many times a day. Aaron, November '04

This is a paradise of a place in Koh Panghan s frenzy.The plans for a swimmiming pool and more accurate internet service(the internet connection was a bit slow)I m sure that will keep travellers in the hotel premises for days.The rooms are clean and new,the staff(especially the manager)extremely helpful and friendly.I have to say that although we didn t particularly like Koh Panghan,we could return in the future just to stay there.If the price would include breakfast everything would be perfect!Big thanks!
